Workshops for RWAs, corporates, schools, industry professionals, etc
Some of the workshops and trainings we have conducted are:
- ‘Wat’er we doing’ a week-long workshop on water for children was organised by CMCA in collaboration with Biome and Ensyde in May 2012. A film was made about the workshop
- Biome Trust conducted a session on water for the I MBBS class of St John’s Medical College as part of their new ‘Health and Humanities’ program in Feb 2013
- As part of ‘Catch Every Drop’, Biome conducted a water walk for the public at the Sir M Visvesvaraya RWH Theme Park on March 2, 2013
- Biome Trust trained 140 ASHA workers and health inspectors from 18 PHCs around Mulbagal in water quality testing
- Biome was faculty at the EPGP seminar series on ‘Bangalore – Its water problems and solutions’ for students of IIM Bangalore in June 2013
- Biome organised a visit to Rainbow Drive for around 50 representatives of RWAs to understand how groundwater recharge works, on April 5, 2014
- Biome was the knowledge resource provider for a program on sanitation, health and hygiene for 15 slum kids, conducted as part of GiZ’s Indo-German Partnership Program in April 2014
- Sessions in water literacy were conducted for the students and the faculty at Jodi Krishnapura and KB Hosahalli schools in Kolar, especially on the topic of water quality as it is a high fluoride area, in Sept 2014
- As part of the Participatory Aquifer Mapping Project, Biome organised a workshop called ‘My well our water’ on June 27, 2015, with participants from Wipro, ACWADAM, Mapunity, IISc, other organisations and citizens. A brief report of the workshop was also put out
- Biome conducted an educational session on lakes for students of Brindavana Educational Trust at Madivala Lake
- Biome participated in the Kaikondrahalli Kere Habba on January 9, 2016 with a stall on good water management practices and also helped organise a Community Connect event
- A session on ‘Our Water’ was conducted for the students of Aditi Mallya School on Jan 20, 2016
- Biome Trust was invited by Bhoomi College to conduct a workshop on Water and Sustainability for their students from January 27-29, 2016
- A training programme on rainwater harvesting in rural areas was held from February 24-26, 2016 at CASS-CDD Society, Kengeri Satellite Town for officials and professionals from various organisations
- Biome conducted a session on water management for women corporators at MGIRED on the occasion of Womens’ Day – March 8, 2016
- Biome conducted a training workshop for construction professionals on RWH at INSTRUCT on March 18-19, 2016
- Biome conducted a training session for engineers from the Brigade group of companies on RWH on May 6, 2016
- Organic terrace gardening group Bangalore East Eerullies invited Biome to do a session on RWH for their members on May 28, 2016
- Biome was invited by NVIRON to do a training session on RWH for engineers from varied industries on June 24, 2016
- Alstom invited Biome to conduct a session on RWH for their employees on June 29, 2016
- Biome was invited by Arpan (a local NGO) and Earth&Us to anchor a workshop on water management for officials and teachers of schools in Tripura on July 13-17, 2016
- On July 30, 2016, Grama Vikasa organised a workshop on water quality for schools in Raichur at which Vishwanath Srikantaiah and Kiran Kumar Sen spoke and demonstrated water quality testing
- Kiran and Shreyas from Biome, who are members of the Fluoride Knowledge and Action Network (FKAN), were invited by Arghyam to conduct a session on safe water and fluorosis on September 27, 2016
- Sessions on water literacy were conducted for the students of Kannur Primary School and Kadusonnapanahalli High School
- Brigade Enterprises Ltd invited Biome to conduct training in RWH for their employees on Nov 24, 2016
- Biome anchored the module on ‘Water and Well Being’ at a week long workshop at Bhoomi College that started on Nov 28, 2016
- Biome was invited to deliver a talk on ‘Urbanisation and wastewater management’ at M S Ramaiah Medical College on Nov 29, 2016
- Biome Trust helped CSE (Delhi) organise a visit for city officials from 10 Ganga basin cities to Rainbow Drive and Jakkur Lake on Dec 8, 2016
- Biome was invited to conduct a session on Integrated Urban Water Management for the employees of Surbana Jurong on Jan 5, 2017
- 60 architecture students from the Adhiyamaan College of Engineering
visited Rainbow Drive and Kaikondrahalli Lake to learn about Integrated Urban Water Management on Jan 6, 2017 - Biome was invited to speak on ‘Urban Groundwater Management’ at the stakeholder consultation meeting with the World Bank at BCCI on Jan 17, 2017
- As part of the Devanahalli 10 schools project, Biome conducted a session on water literacy at Kannur Govt School in Jan 2017
- Reapbenefit invited Biome to conduct a session on RWH for students from private schools at the RWH Theme Park in Jayanagar
- Reapbenefit requested Biome to facilitate a visit of students of Delhi Public School to Rainbow Drive on March 2, 2017
- Biome was invited to speak on ‘Water and Children’ by the Child Rights Circle on March 18, 2017
- Kiran and Shreyas from Biome conducted a Water Quality and Fluorosis workshop for the Kalike team at Yadgiri as part of the hydrogeology training by ACWADAM on April 6, 2017
- Biome organised a visit for the delegates of Leaders’ Quest to Kaikondrahalli Lake on May 17, 2017
- Biome facilitated a visit for the delegates of ACARA from the Univ of Minnesota, along with students from St Joseph’s College to Rainbow Drive and Kaikondrahalli Lake on May 18, 2017
- Biome was invited to speak to the employees of HARMAN on the occasion of World Environment Day, June 5, 2017
- Biome Trust helped CSE (Delhi) organise a visit for city officials from 10 Ganga basin cities to Rainbow Drive and Jakkur Lake on July 31, 2017
- A fun session on ‘Lakes and Wells’ was conducted for the students of Aditi Mallya School on August 10, 2017
- The closing workshop of the Participatory Aquifer Mapping Project was held on August 11, 2017. It was well attended by all the stakeholders of the project and was covered by the press
- Biome Trust conducted a session on all things water for twenty students and their five advisors from the University of Washington at Kaikondrahalli Lake in Jan 2018
- Biome Trust was invited by Bhoomi College to conduct a three day workshop on Water and Well Being for their students from Jan 22-24, 2018
- Shubha Ramachandran was invited to speak at TIFR-ICTS Women and Science’s Summer School for Women in Mathematics and Statistics on May 2018
- Biome Trust conducted a session on Stakeholder Mapping and Engagement at CSE’s training program on Urban Wetlands Management at AAETI, Nimli, Rajasthan from Sept 25-28, 2018
- Biome along with Sensing Local, Whitefield Rising and Varthur Rising organised a participatory planning workshop on wetlands for Varthur Lake, on January 5, 2019
- Biome and ATREE set up a stall at the Kaikondrahalli Kere Habba on Citizen Science and the Lakes Dashboard on February 17, 2019
- A group of Resident Welfare Associations from Bellandur invited Shubha from Biome and Dr Ananth Kodavasal to talk about groundwater and wastewater respectively, at Mantri Glades apartments on 10 March 2019. After this, the group decided to dig 2500 recharge wells in Bellandur
- As part of Citizen Science and Lakes, Biome and ATREE organised a biodiversity walk at Jakkur Lake on March 30, 2019
- Biome organised a workshop on groundwater recharge and the Million Wells for Bengaluru campaign at Rainbow Drive on 30 March 2019, which was very well attended
- With funding support from Wipro, Biome organised a national level workshop on urban water on April 25-26, 2019 at the School of Ancient Wisdom, Devanahalli. It was attended by delegates from across the country
- Biome, along with Friends of Lakes and Next Drop were facilitators for a lake visioning workshop for the Nallurhalli Lake at Whitefield, organised on 12 May 2019
- Biome and Wipro organised a workshop for volunteers from Wipro who wanted to work in the area of water, on May 15, 2019 at Kaikondrahalli Lake
- Shubha Ramachandran was invited to speak at TIFR-ICTS Women and Science’s Summer School for Women in Mathematics and Statistics on May 17, 2019 on the topic ‘Local Water Resource Management in a City’
- As part of the Art in Transit project, a workshop with the well diggers was organised on 21 May 2019. A discussion on opportunities and challenges was followed by the well diggers marking the wells they have dug on a map of the city
- Biome Trust facilitated a visit of University of Minnesota students to Rainbow Drive and Kaikondrahalli Lake to learn about IUWM on May 24, 2019
- A lecture on ‘Million Wells for Bengaluru’ was organised at the Dialogue Cafe, Koramangala on Thursday, June 6, 2019 by EnSyde, delivered by Shubha Ramachandran
- As part of Citizen Science and Lakes, Biome organised a biodiversity walk at Rachenahalli Lake on June 9, 2019
- Awareness session by Shubha Ramachandran on water management for the employees of General Motors Technical Centre at ITPL, Whitefield on Thursday, July 4, 2019
- Biome participated in the Train the Trainers program organised by Wipro earthian for school teachers on Tuesday, July 9, 2019
- Visit to Rainbow Drive by FutureSake to ideate and plan logistics for their Cities of Tomorrow water curriculum, facilitated by Shubha on Tuesday, July 23, 2019
- Biome was invited to make a presentation on at the Multi-stakeholder Forum on Restoration and Conservation of Urban Water-related Ecosystems organised by WRI at Hyderabad on Wednesday, July 24, 2019
- Avinash Krishnamurthy from Biome was a resource person at the workshop on ‘Innovative solutions to improve the Service deliveries in ULBs’ organised by the City Managers’ Association Karnataka and Directorate of Municipal Administration held in the second week of July 2019 at Vikasa Soudha. He spoke on ‘Water conservation, RWH & grey water recycling & reuse’

- Biome facilitated a visit of the team from the NGO Ummeed from Lucknow to Jakkur Lake and the RWH Theme Park on Friday, October 11, 2019
- Leaders’ Quest – Facilitated by Biome, 13 ‘leaders’ from various countries visited Jakkur Lake and Cubbon Park on Oct 14 and 16, 2019 to understand aspects of sustainable water management
- Shubha Ramachandran gave a talk on the Million Wells campaign at TEDxBangalore on October 20, 2019
- Biome organised a Train the Trainers workshop for those interested in becoming resource persons for biodiversity awareness programs. This was held at Jakkur Lake on 16 November and 15 December 2019
- Biome and ATREE conducted Bioblitz at Singapura lake for Oracle employees on Saturday, November 23, 2019

- Shubha Ramachandran from Biome was invited to deliver the keynote address at a public consultation on lake ecology and biodiversity in cities held on 21 December 2019
- Biome facilitated a visit and workshop for the entire batch of 30 GCIL interns from the University of Washington at the RWH Theme Park and the Cubbon Park metro mural on Friday, January 10, 2020, anchored by Avinash Krishnamurthy
- On 25 Jan 2020, Biome organised a lake walk around Ulsoor Lake as part of the SUBMERGE exhibition by the Science Gallery Bengaluru
- Avinash Krishnamurthy of Biome gave a talk at Bangalore International Centre on ‘The Invisible Water Warriors’ – on the labourers who work to maintain the city’s water systems. A plumber, a well digger and 3 informal sanitation workers also spoke on the occasion organised by Bangalore Sustainability Forum on Saturday, January 25, 2020
- E & Y organised a visit of the officials of Orissa Water Supply and Sewerage Board to Bengaluru. The Orissa officials wanted to see systems where wastewater is treated with less energy and treated wastewater is reused. Biome helped organise visits to Jakkur Lake, Saul Kere, Hebbagodi Lake and Rainbow Drive on Tuesday, February 4, 2020
- Vishwanath Srikantaiah spoke on ‘A City and its Waters’ at the TEDxBMSITM event on February 29, 2020
- Biome addressed 60 women in a workshop organised at Kanivenahalli GLPS on rainwater harvesting and the shallow aquifer. The event took place on 11 March 2020
- Biome conducted a series of four online workshops for the staff of Myrada on urban water management on May 20, May 27, June 3, and June 10, 2020, as part of the ITC project
- Vishwanath Srikantaiah was the keynote speaker at the webinar ‘Water Future for Cities: Making Water Everybody’s Business’ organised by UNESCO New Delhi and National Institute of Urban Affairs on July 29, 2020
