Citizen Science and Lakes - System Maps
Citizen Science aims at fostering knowledge-based engagement between the lake groups and citizens staying around the lakes. Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE) and Biome Environmental Trust (Biome) have been working on this project with funding support from Oracle.
ATREE and Biome have developed the ‘Bangalore Citizen Lakes Dashboard’ to share knowledge and best practices for better management of lakes. We created a series of system maps to visually represent problems at lakes and to link these with their root causes. The system maps were developed by consulting experts and studying the literature in collaboration with the NGO Janaagraha.
System Maps have been created for the issues mentioned below. Links have been given to the relevant Citizen Matters article / Facebook page that explains the problem and how citizens can help. #lakesystemmaps
