Mapping Bengaluru’s shallow aquifer
Biome has been anchoring the ‘Million Wells for Bengaluru’ campaign since 2015. The aim of the campaign is to build a water culture where people value water and manage it collectively. By creating awareness on shallow aquifers, and encouraging people to dig recharge wells and maintain open wells, Biome hopes that the groundwater tables in the city as well as the livelihoods of the traditional well diggers will improve. To undertake some of the activities of the Million Wells campaign in a project based model, a new project was initiated in March 2021 with support from Wipro Foundation. The objective of this project is to continue strengthening the existing practices of rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge and inform and influence water policy/policies.
This is an ongoing project. The report will be linked once it is completed.
